Who This Is For

The Realistic Transition Path

1

Map your existing skills to AI roles

Cloud infrastructure, APIs, cost optimization, production systems — these are all directly relevant to AI engineering. We'll identify which of your current skills transfer immediately and which gaps actually matter.

2

Add the right LLM layer — not ML theory

Most AI engineering jobs in 2026 are about building with pre-trained models, not training them. LLM APIs, RAG pipelines, vector databases, agent frameworks — this is the practical skill layer to add, not PyTorch.

3

Build one real project

A working RAG system, a deployed agent, or an LLM-backed tool matters more to most hiring managers than any cert or course. We'll define what to build based on your target role and current skills.

4

Position yourself correctly

Resume framing, LinkedIn positioning, and how to talk about AI in interviews when you're mid-transition. The story matters as much as the skills — we'll build the right narrative for your background.

AI Roles Worth Targeting

AI Platform Engineer
Builds and maintains the infrastructure AI products run on. Cloud skills transfer directly.
LLM Application Developer
Builds products on top of LLM APIs — RAG, agents, workflows. High demand, software background required.
AI Solutions Architect
Designs AI system architecture for enterprises. Natural evolution from cloud SA roles.
MLOps / AI Ops Engineer
Deploys and monitors ML models in production. DevOps skills are the core of this role.
AI Technical Account Manager
Customer-facing AI advisory at cloud companies. TAM/SA background with AI knowledge.
Independent AI Consultant
Help companies adopt AI. Viable with cloud + AI skills and a small portfolio of wins.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to learn machine learning to get an AI job?
Not for most AI engineering roles. Traditional ML (training models, PyTorch, gradient descent) is one path — but the majority of AI engineering jobs in 2026 are about building with pre-trained models: LLM APIs, RAG systems, agent frameworks, and AI infrastructure. These roles value software and cloud skills far more than ML theory.
How long does the transition take?
For an experienced cloud or DevOps engineer: 3–6 months to build the right skills and portfolio, 6–12 months to land a role. The timeline depends on how actively you're building, how targeted your job search is, and whether you already have adjacent AI experience. We'll set realistic expectations in the session.
Is independent AI consulting realistic?
Yes — with cloud + AI skills and a few documented wins, consulting is viable. The sweet spot is mid-market companies (50–500 employees) who know they need to use AI but don't know how. They're too small for enterprise AI vendors but too busy to figure it out themselves. $150–250/hour is realistic for someone with your background once you have 2–3 case studies.
What AI certs are worth getting?
AWS AI Practitioner is a good signal for cloud-focused AI roles. AWS ML Specialty if you're targeting SageMaker or ML platform roles. Google Professional ML Engineer for GCP shops. Beyond certs, a working project portfolio (deployed RAG system, real agent, LLM-backed tool) often matters more to hiring managers.
